Since its inception in Fall 2006, the Liberal Studies Parents Circle has fostered a sense of community among the parents of Liberal Studies students. Participation in the Parents Circle gives parents the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the unique Liberal Studies curriculum, to interact with faculty, and to share information and ideas with one another as well as with Liberal Studies Dean Fred Schwarzbach.

Parents Circle receptions are held once a semester at NYU's Washington Square campus. At each reception, Dean Schwarzbach informs members about the latest program news and plans for the future. He also invites feedback from parents about their own child's experiences. All parents are encouraged to contribute to group discussion and to meet other parents of Liberal Studies students. The active engagement of parents has been tremendously valuable to Dean Schwarzbach and to Liberal Studies as a whole.
